Fourth Official: Neil Swarbrick
  • Mike Dean averages four cards per game.
  • Mike Dean has awarded 12 penalties so far this season in the Premier League.
Opta Stats:
  • Didier Drogba has scored eight Premier League goals against Arsenal, making the Gunners his joint-favourite opponent (with West Brom).
  • Chelsea have lost 29 points from winning positions against Arsenal in the Premier League, more than any side against any other, winning just 10 of 21 games in which they have held the lead (D4 L7).
  • Chelsea have won just three of their previous 19 Premier League trips to the home of Arsenal, but those three victories have all come in their last six visits.
  • In this season’s reverse fixture, Arsenal became the first side to score five against Chelsea in the league since Liverpool in September 1996.
  • Arsenal have won 12 and lost just two of their last 16 league games at the Emirates (2 draws).
  • The Gunners have scored in their last 16 consecutive home league fixtures.
  • Roberto Di Matteo has taken two fewer points from his opening six games in charge of Chelsea (11) than Andre Villas-Boas managed (13).
  • Arsenal have the Premier League’s top scorer this season (van Persie, 27), but have also had a joint-league high 17 different goalscorers (with Everton).

  • Chelsea have shipped more goals in the closing 15 minutes than any other team this term (18).
More Stats (via WhoScored & KickOff):
  • In their last 20 away games, Chelsea have won 0, drawn 0, and lost 3 matches against teams positioned above them in the table.

Team News (via WhoScored):
  • Mikel Arteta suffered ankle ligament damage early on in the game with Wigan and will miss the rest of the season.
  • Laurent Koscielny will return from suspension to partner Vermaelen at the back in place of Djourou.
  • David Luiz pulled up with a hamstring injury in the FA Cup semi-final with Tottenham and is likely to be out for a couple of weeks.
  • Branislav Ivanovic remains suspended in domestic competition, so Bosingwa should continue at right-back.

WHAT WE NEED? - Written By: @JordaanC10

After the departure of three key players(Fabregas,Clichy,Nasri). Arsenal become more a 'TEAM', all players, fans and the boss are closer, there is more confidence in each of the pieces of the club, the results were much improved after the bad start with the incorporation of Arteta, Santos, Mertesacker, Benayoun, Park and AOC.

Unfortunately at the same time, some players with a big role in the club lose their form and others never fulfilled the expectations, such as the case of Arshavin, Rosicky, Chamakh, and Squillaci. Arshavin has only started 7 games and as a substitute played in 9 games with just one goal, Rosicky has only started 4 times and in 7 as substitute has not scored a goal, Chamakh started only once, seven substitute appearances and a goal, Squillaci only played once as a substitute, any goal scored.
To these incredible numbers(sarcasm), we need to add the injury's of Jack Wilshere and Sagna. Wilshere has not played all season and is expected to return in early February, while Sagna has not played since October 2 against Tottenham and he will return in February too. Also Kieran Gibbs, Andre Santos, Vermaelen and Jenkinson are injured.
So the big question is, WHAT WE NEED? Which is the goal?.The main objective is to finish in the top 4 positions to be in the champions league,to do that we really need a left back but only on loan, why? because eventually we will have two more! (the player on loan,Gibbs and jenkinson),So it is a bit silly to buy a player, unless that arsene have in their plans to sell some LB, which seems unlikely. The players who are linked for this position are:
Aly Cissokho(24)Lyon: The player wants to join the premiere league but permanently, so it is difficult to accept a loan for 6 months.

Wayne Bridge(31)Manchester City: Simple, his salary is just stupid.

Erick Abidal (32) Barcelona: just linked a few hours ago, weak rumour and unlikely he will sign another contract with Barcelona in the next days.
Maxwell (30) Barcelona: the interest is uncertain, but if it's true, would not be so complicated, Maxwell is not a favorite of Joseph Guardiola and his salary is not high, but he will be interested in a loan at his age?
Also i think we do need another striker, despite Thierry is back, but just for less than 2 months, Gervinho is out for the African Cup of Nations, Chamakh also goes to the ACN and is very likely to change team, if not now in the summer will go.This means that the full responsibility for scoring goes to RVP,he can not play every game, may be injured or may have a poor performance due to fatigue. The players who are linked for this position are:

Lukas Podolski (26) Cologne:Not anymore till summer.

Matias Suarez (23) Anderletch:it is likely, the player wants to join a big club and Anderletch would be happy with a good bid,is in wenger's hands.

Salomon Kalou (26) Chealsea: The most likely option, only for 3 million can be a gooner,Chelsea wants to sell him and the player wants a change, done deal? lets wait and see.

The truth is that there are 21 days to transfer the final day and there will be many rumors, there is only hope that the boss (and i know he will) choose good signings, that Arsenal finish in the top 4 and above Tottenham.

                  Friday, January 6, 2012

Henry signs short-term deal with Arsenal

Henry, who made 370 appearances for the Club and is the Gunners’ all-time leading goalscorer with 226 goals, has been maintaining his fitness at London Colney since November during the MLS off-season.

                  Thierry Henry
Born: 17 August 1977 (Les Ulis, Essonne, France)
                  Arsenal Career: 1999-2007
                  Club Appearances: 370
Club Goals: 226 (all-time Club record)
Honours as an Arsenal player: FA Premier League: 2001/02, 2003/04, FA Cup: 2002, 2003, 2005, FA Community Shield: 2001/02, 2003/04

                  - Henry's last game against Leeds, at Highbury in April 2004, ended in a 5-0 victory for the Gunners - and he scored four.

                  Arsenal vs Leeds Preview

                  Facts and Stats:
                  - Arsenal have made it past the third round in each of the last 15 seasons in the FA Cup, a longer run than any other side.
                  - The Gunners last lost in the third round in 1996, drawing 1-1 at home to Sheffield United before losing 0-1 at Bramall Lane
                  - Arsenal have lost only one of their last 35 FA Cup games at home under Arsène Wenger: 0-1 against Leeds in February 1997 (W23 D10 L1)
